Focus & Scope

ETS publishes research articles, reviews, and conceptual papers that explore the dynamic relationship between the English language and the tourism industry. Topic areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Applied linguistics for tourism; ESP (English for Specific Purposes) in hospitality and travel
  • Discourse, pragmatics, and intercultural communication in tourism contexts
  • Tourism marketing communication, destination narratives, and media
  • Technology-enhanced language learning for tourism; digital tourism and UX communication
  • Community-based tourism, sustainability communication, and policy
  • Curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment for English in tourism and hospitality

Peer Review

Submissions undergo double-blind peer review. Typically, one to two expert reviewers evaluate each manuscript for relevance, originality, rigor, and contribution before an editorial decision is made.

Open Access & Licensing

ETS provides immediate open access to all content, supporting global knowledge exchange. Articles are published under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license. Authors retain copyright and may self-archive.

Article Processing Charge (APC)

A publishing cost waiver may be granted. Otherwise, the APC is USD 25 (IDR 250,000).

Ethics & Policies

  • Zero tolerance for plagiarism; similarity checks are conducted prior to review and decision.
  • Decisions include acceptance, acceptance with revisions, or rejection, based on scholarly merit.
